SPRINGFIELD – Following the governor’s budget address for Fiscal Year 2027, State Senator Omar Aquino (D-Chicago) released the following statement:
“The governor’s proposed budget lays a responsible foundation for Illinois to continue prioritizing the essential services working families need most. At the same time, it reflects the fiscal challenges our state faces amid ongoing federal uncertainty and financial pressures.
“Illinois families deserve transparency and relief. I am pleased that the governor is committed to addressing the deceptive practice of corporations imposing hidden junk fees that are hurting the pockets of working families, costing them thousands each year.
“In the months ahead, I will work with my colleagues to craft a budget that centers working people and ensures our critical programs are funded at levels that keep our neighborhoods stable and resilient.
“As families face rising costs and economic strain, now more than ever we must work to increase affordability for our communities and defend access to critical services, including child care and health care. I will continue fighting to make sure Illinois remains a state where every family has the opportunity to thrive.”
